B.S.G.E.—Bachelor of Science in Guitar Engineering
I wish there was a college degree offered that was called Guitar Engineering. The way I see it, there is supposed to be electrical, mechanical, civil, computer science, and guitar engineering, it just hasn’t happened yet. The graduating students would hold a B.S.G.E. - Bachelor of Science in Guitar Engineering.
It would be a 6-year program. The coursework would encompass all the undergraduate and graduate-level mechanical engineering classes with a focus in structural dynamics. Included would be extensive woodworking labs, manufacturing courses, harmony and theory classes, lead and rhythm guitar, internships at Fender, Martin, and Taylor. The required final project would obviously be to build a classical or steel-string acoustic guitar.
